At RoomRecess, you’ll find over 150 free learning games for kids. “RoomRecess.com was developed entirely by an elementary school teacher with the goal of reinforcing fundamental learning concepts in math, reading, spelling, language arts, typing, and problem-solving. Because learning games are free, students do not have to sign up or hold an account. Children can simply load up an activity and have fun learning online while they play!”

Students can select a grade level and then choose a from a variety of math, reading, and word games. There are also puzzles, learning tools, and even fiction and non-fiction story selections. Have fun exploring!

A New Reading App from Google Makes Reading Fun!

Google’s new reading app called Rivet makes reading practice fun and easy for kids. There are over 2,000 free books organized into different categories and reading levels. Rivet uses speech processing technology and can help children pronounce difficult words. Kids can also read sentences and phrases aloud and the app will “listen” and offer corrections if needed. It has a fun interface with awards and games, and kids can also rate books and post reviews. More info can be found at the app’s official website.

Here’s an online game that helps a very worthy cause.

Test your general knowledge and do a good deed at the same time. For each correct answer, 10 grains of rice are donated to hungry people around the globe through the United Nations World Food Program.

The opening game is vocabulary, but other categories include math, chemistry, geography, and foreign languages, including French and Spanish. It’s easy to play: just the click the correct answer from one of four possible choices. If you answer correctly, the next question is a little harder.
