We communicate with one another in languages that are spoken, written, or signed. There are many, many languages spoken in all different parts of the world–more than 7,000!

Library circulation has started, and we have so many great books from which to choose. When you read for enjoyment, you can learn about new things or even escape into another world. Libraries are great places to explore, and this year, we will find out how libraries are organized in order to find things more easily!

Spring 2023 Book Trailers

Our Fifth Grade students read a great selection of books this year as independent reading choices. They used an online application called Adobe Express to create book trailers or short videos that introduce their books without giving away the endings.

Enjoy viewing the videos they created about their books!

If you love dogs, then Zola thinks you will like The Dog Who Lost His Bark, the story of a rescue dog who learns to trust the boy who adopts him.

Vivian recommends Treasure Hunters, a fast-paced adventure story of four siblings who try to solve the mystery of their missing treasure-hunting parents.

Mason recommends Dragon Ball Z Volume 2, an exciting story of a fight against aliens who want to destroy the world.

If you could write a letter to a Super Villain–who would it be? John recommends Dear DC Supervillains.

Matilda is the story of a very bright young girl who is sent to a school where she has to deal with a terrifying headmistress. Wesley knows you will enjoy it

Madison recommends Sisters, a graphic novel about siblings trying to get along on a week-long family road trip.

Imagine a world 3000 years into the future. Ian recommends Speaker for the Dead, an exciting sci-fi sequel to the book Ender’s Game.

Lola thinks you will enjoy Smile, the graphic novel about a sixth-grade girl who learns to deal with braces, not-so-friendly friends, and other middle-school worries.

Evan recommends The Hobbit: a classic tale of a very adventurous journey for a small man.

Have you ever wanted to be in a talent show? Brooke thinks you will like Click, a graphic novel about a girl named Olive and her friends.

Michael recommends Dogman, a graphic novel about a police officer who’s part man, part dog, and all hero.

Do you believe that witches can help make your wishes come true? Addy recommends that you read The Time of the Witch.

Caitlin read the graphic novel When Stars Are Scattered the true story of two brothers who have lived most of their life in an African refugee camp who now may have a chance to change their future.

If you like basketball, Ryder recommends The Crossover, the Newberry-winning story of twin 12-year-old boys who are awesome on the court.

New villains are coming to town, but Dog Man is on the case. Jackson thinks you will like Mothering Heights, the 10th Dog Man book.

Astrid read One Crazy Summer, the story of 3 sisters who travel to California in the summer of 1968 to spend time with the mother they haven’t seen in years.

Cory recommends Death By Toilet Paper, the story of a smart 12-year-old who enters contests to keep his family from getting kicked out of their apartment.
